Afternoon Rafting
One of the things we have wanted to do for many years was to do some white water rafting. Since we were going to be in Alaska anyways, it made sense to try and do some here.
We choose to go with Nova Alaska for the afternoon trip. They were highly recommended by others, and unlike many other companies provided a full dry suit so that you didn't get soaked to the skin. Considering the water temperature was in the 30's (remember it's melting ice feeding the rivers), that was a good thing.
You check in, then drive up to the drop off point. There were nine of us for the trip, a family of five, and one other couple. The family of five choose to take the paddle raft, ours was where the guide does everything. All we had to do was to hold on.
You start by getting half way in your dry suit, booties, water sneakers, gloves, etc. They drive you up river 12 miles to put into the river, then you spend the next couple of hours coming down.
The sun had come out and the view was totally incredible. This is something we would easily do again.
We are in the front of the first raft
